Eye Function Testing

Our eyes play a very pivotal role in our lives. That’s why it’s so important to take care of them. The best way to maintain your eye and vision health is by getting routine eye exams. At Eye Care Specialists of Oklahoma, we can test your eyes for various things, including eye health and vision function. We have locations in Midwest City and Edmond, OK. Our ophthalmologists can diagnose and treat any eye or vision problems you are suffering from.

How Eye Exams Work

When you book a routine eye exam with us, we will perform numerous tests. Each of these tests are essential in monitoring your eye health. Before your exam, you will consult with our ophthalmologist to discuss your medical history and any eye or vision problems you are having.

Visual Acuity Test

This test establishes how well you can see far and nearby objects. Using letters positioned at varying distances, our ophthalmologist will ask you to read them to evaluate how your vision compares to a standard 20/20 vision. If your visual acuity test results aren’t 20/20, you may need corrective lenses, eyeglasses, or surgery to correct the problem.

To determine what prescription you need, our ophthalmologist uses retinoscopy. Using a special tool, our eye doctor varies light and flips different lenses in your eyes to determine how light reflects off your retina and if you have a refractive error. We can determine if you have myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism.

Eye Function Testing

This is used to determine your peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and more. Our ophthalmologist will check to make sure your eyes can focus and work together properly.

Eye Health

This section of the eye exam looks for any eye diseases. We use tonometry to measure your eye pressure and look for glaucoma. Our doctor may also dilate your pupils to get a better look at your eyes.
